Centrally located,

Kona Luana is within a ten minute walk of Kailua-Kona Village. There are many attractions some of which include Kailua-Kona pier, variety of dinning options, waterfront shopping, Farmers Market, coffee shops and friendly locals. Kona Luana is about 10 miles south of Kona Airport and about a 1 hour drive to volcano park. A forty-five minute drive to Mauna Kea and about a two hour drive to Hilo. There's plenty to do if you have the time, anything from scuba diving, snorkeling, sport fishing, biking, hiking, horse back riding and whole bunch more. Major stores are minutes away, Costco, Walmart, Safeway, Macy's, Home Depot, Cinemas and much more.

Kona Luana is a unique 3 story condominium older unit directly on the water. Unit 1 is on the first floor and is not a rental. Unit 2 and Unit 3 are on the 2nd and 3rd floors. both opposite each other, both of which have the identical floor plan.

Living room:

Includes High Speed Wi-Fi Internet, Direct TV, a large 65' High Definition Samsung flat screen. A office desk, New couch purchased 5/13/2022. A breath taking 180 degree view of Kahului Bay that is only feet away. The living room has a new Air Conditioner and ceiling fans, just in case you need them. Also, all new flooring on both floors.

 

Kitchen:

The kitchen was remodeled in 2008. Wood cabinets, corian counter-tops, dish washer, refrigerator, micro wave and range, completely equipped with every kitchen cooking and eating utensil you can think of. The kitchen also has a private lanai overlooking Alii Drive.

Master Bedroom:

New, King size bed, purchased 5/13/2022. Two large closets, ceiling fan, window unit air conditioning, large Samsung 55" flat screen TV with DirecTV. This bedroom has an Incredible ocean view with private lanai. and lanai furniture and table. Relax and watch all the water activities during the day, or in the evening gaze at the stars or beautiful Hawaiian sunsets.

Master Bathroom:

Remodeled in 2014 tiling, tub and shower, dark wood cabinets, low profile toilet and new fixtures.

Bedroom 2:

Second bedroom has two NEW, twin beds purchased 5/13/2022, stand up air-conditioner unit, a ceiling fan and large closet.

Bathroom 2:

Walk-in shower, mosaic shower floor, vanity, fixtures and toilet

Flooring:

The flooring has just been replaced on 5/13/2022. both floors, A new toilet was just installed downstairs on 5/13/2022.

All towels and sheets are new as of 5/13/2022. I still need to finish up some minor painting. I will paint in Oct/Nov 2022.

Pest Control:

I have both condos treated for pests quarterly. Just be aware, this is an oceanfront home on an Island. Occasionally, there are insects. If you leave food out, the tiny ants will come, if you leave the door or screen open, bugs will come in.

Endless View

If you love the sound of the waves this is the place for you! You are literally right over the water. It I just as it is advertised. Very clean and well stocked with dishes,, beach gear and even golf clubs if you're a golfer. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing Condo

Parent's Anniversary Trip.

This place was amazingly! Close to town, RIGHT on the ocean, nicely appointed facility, it was well represented in accordance to website photos and descriptions. My parents celebrated their 60th anniversary and we all had a wonderful stay. It was really nice having a stand alone facility, just three units, rather than being in a large complex. We liked the split level, having two floors to ourselves. Our favorite feature was having three private lanais. The place was clean and very well kept. Communication with the the property host was prompt and helpful. We absolutely loved it and would stay here again.

Nice condo, close to Kona tourist strip.

The condo was very clean and a well equipped kitchen and there was even boggie boards, beach chairs, mats and towels for us to use, which was very appreciated. Mark provided very detailed instructions on the check-in process which was extremely easy. The views from the lanai were extraordinary, this is truly ocean front and we were lulled to sleep every night by the crashing waves.

Great property at great location and wonderful host.

Very memorable stay at this oceanfront property, honest representation and even reality is better than photos. Wonderful accommodating owners from start to finish. You need binoculars to see whales in more details and dolphins playing. You can see schools of yellow fish by naked eye from the balcony. Best beach is Kamakahonu as it is protected from the open ocean so less wave and currents we were there everyday no exception. The view from the property is to die for specially mornings till noon time. few minutes to the dock of bikeshare where you can rent-a-bike, it takes you to the Farmers Market where the best fruits are. And it takes to the live and lovely Magic Sand Beach. I believe there is no need to do anything else on the Big Island as you stay in this wonderful property. Although we couldn't resist the temptation and we visited the Volcano..eh...without Lava lake it is not impressive honestly. We visited as well AKAKA Falls...paradise..you stay there like 30 minutes and we call it a trip. Otherwise daily beach trip...enjoying the sun, sand, and snorkeling. The property has a well stocked pantry and a wonderful kitchen that I cooked so many wonderful meals thanks to Costco's proximity. Spacious and clean, well ventilated...of course just open both window and door and here you have the best breeze ever, no need for AC honestly. You sleep and wake up on the waves crashing the shoreline...paradise. Best memorable restaurants by proximity; 1. Jackie Reys..great elegant tasty meals. 2. Broke Da Mouth..Hawaiian dishes featured on DDD both there is at least 30-45 minutes wait, worth it. 3. Barefoot Zone..excellent Acai bowls and great lunch/breakfast joint, each plate is enough for at least two people. And finally 4. Umeke Poke..our preferred destination for a perfect Poke at the beach. If you have a car Costco's poke is amazing and at a great price. Thanks to the owners once again. Zack and Family.

Excellent view and location

Spacious and well appointed condo. Great location- short walk to Kona town. 2nd bedroom is small, however it does have a/c and suits the purpose for sleeping. Master bedroom is large and has a private lani. The Codi has several boogie boards, coolers and other beach equipment...the beach chair could use replacing. We enjoyed our stay and would stay agai!.

Great Views.

Terrific ocean atmosphere. Loved sitting on the balcony and watching the waves hitting the rocks below. Great sunsets while having a cocktail or BBQing a steak on the gas grill provided. One of the TV's quit and Mark arranged for a replacement right away. He was great.

Right on the water!

This condo is right on the water, and it's great to sit on the balconies and watch the waves and the sunset! The condo is about 1/2 mile into town, and walking to/from is easy. The property manager was responsive, and the check-in and check-out process was very easy. Very enjoyable vacation!!

Comfortable and well located appartment in Kona.

Ideally located within walking distance to downtown Kona and 15 min drive to the best snorkeling beach park (kahalu'u). The appartment is furnished with all desirable amenities, with a complete kitchen, several bathrooms, a very large bedroom with a complete view of the ocean and great balconies to sit ,have coffee, read and watch for boats and whales ( occasional sightings in the distance). This was for us a good base to visit the whole island with a rental car and walk to the restaurants. We like our own diet and cooking and we were happy with the setup. There is air conditioning on both levels, but we hardly used it as the large screened sliding doors and ceiling fans were more than sufficient, also providing the sound of crashing waves to put you to sleep.

In addition, any problems we had were taken care of seriously by Mark.

Beautiful Hawaiian Heaven

Staying here was absolutely gorgeous. We were transported to this nice beach front property where we see, smell and feel the waves crashing so close to us. It was a spacious, clean and very comfortable condo. It was close to downtown Kona. What a delight to walk to the Kona Farmer's market or to the Luau at the Royal Kona. Best thing was, we felt like we were on vacation and being so close to those waves was the best part. Place is renovated nicely and I loved the decorations. Great place for a family or couples to rest and relax. Looking forward to staying here again the next time I'm in Kona.

Can't get any closer to the water!

We loved the location of this condo. Not only was it right on the water but we could walk to shops, restaurants, or just for exercise. Ali'i Drive goes for miles and miles. We couldn't get enough of such easy access to everything right outside our front door. The two bedrooms and airbed gave us all the room we needed indoors, and the two lanais, upstairs AND downstairs, gave us even more space to spread out, read a book, or just watch the waves. The AC was a plus since the weather was rather hot during our stay. The owner was always just a phone call away if we needed anything. Would DEFINITELY stay here again and recommend others do as well.

Great Place

We stayed here with another couple. I've stayed at a number of units in Kona Makai over the years because the property itself is so well cared for. This is one of the premiere units in the complex with it's right on the water location, wrap around lanai and 2 bedrooms. the layout was great for the 4 of us. It allowed us to spend time together and also allowed some private space as well. We had on small need for a repair and a contact to the local rental agent produced a fix the next day. The unit was clean and well furnished. I'd return again.

Very clean and convenient

The place was clean and near everywhere we wanted to go. Great place. I just wish they had some staples in the fridge/pantry (there was only salt and pepper). Had to buy oil, condiments and spices we barely used.

Absolutely beautiful rental

This place was above and beyond what we had expected. Pictures don't do justice. We were extatic upon arrival, and honestly didn't want to leave. Very clean and well maintained. Unit has two Beach/ocean front Lanais, the views are unbeatable and my morning coffees won't be the same without them. The main floor lanai has a coffee table, chairs, a small fridge outside as well as a BBQ (we showed up from a long day of fishing wanting to grill, and to our suprise, the salty ocean battered grill we had cooked on a few nights before had been replaced by a new grill master). The master bedroomwas spacious, had more than ample closet space, and also had a lanai. The upstairs guest bathroom is amazing with a tile surround, from floor to ceiling, a skylight and a "rain" water fixture. Rental is a casual 15 minute walk to town for shopping, food and drinks and along the way is a sandy beach for boogie boarding or snorkeling. Unit is well stocked with everything you need, and the washer and dryer were a major plus. There was even a cooler, beach chairs, boogie board and umbrella for our use. Mark is very kind and helpful. I honestly can't say enough nice things about this place. Thank you again Mark, we hope to return again, your rental made our stay in Kona that much more wonderful !

Most amazing place to stay in Kona!!!

This was our absolute favorite place to stay in Hawaii!!! Coming from NYC my boyfriend and I were looking for a spot on the water to get away from city life that was beautiful, quiet yet close to anything you need. This condo was exactly that. The 2 floor, 3 bathroom, fully re-done condo exceeded our expectations. It was gorgeous!! It has two balcony's - one in the bedroom which we'd open the huge screen door to in the mornings to watch the sun come up and hear the waves, and another on the main floor where we'd relax, eat breakfast while watching the dolphins swim and have a glass of wine to the sunset each evening. You can't get any closer to the water, it's perfect. The condo is also a short 10 min walk to the restaurants and shops in town, or a two min drive and a convenient location to all the other things you'd want to do along the Kona coast. There was also beach chairs, a boogie board and an umbrella which was really nice. Honestly, there's nothing I'd want more out of a condo in Hawaii. We were more sad to leave this place more than we were the island. It was the perfect romantic getaway spot. Thank you so much!!

Great place and location we had to returned

This was our second time to this place we stayed on the other side last time both units are great. Both units have great views being right on the ocean. Both units are clean and well stocked with every thing you will need. Location is great with a casual 15 minute walk to town were you pass a sandy beach. Great spot to snorkel out front. Repeat Customer

We've stayed here 3 times in the past 4 years. Love the location and the set-up. It is best for a couple even though there are two bedrooms. The second bedroom is cooled by a portable AC which is not optimal. The past two reviews noting the low cooling master BR AC are accurate so hopefully it will get replaced. We still had no problems sleeping though. We come to Kona most years and will be back in 2015.

Great Place To Stay

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here for a week in September. There is plenty of room with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs. There is a half bath and washer and dryer downstairs. We did not use the kitchen, but it is well stocked and spacious. There are two flat screen TVs, cable and free wifi. The location of the condo is excellent. Firstly, it is situated right on the ocean, which means you get to sleep to the sounds of the crashing waves at night, and you can see the spinner dolphins up close and personal in the morning. Secondly, the condo is a short walk from town, where all the friendly people, restaurants and shops are located. We need to note that the window A/C in the main bedroom window did not get cold enough for us. If the trade winds had been blowing, it probably would have been more comfortable.

Great location and view

I booked this unit on line after reading various reviews. There were four of us: my wife and I plus two friends who shared the second bedroom. The location is great as you can walk to the restaurants on the waterfront in about 10 minutes. The view from the Lanis is superb and we used the barbecue a couple of times. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining/lounge area big enough for four. We were there in September and it was hot outside so we used the Air Conditioning often. On that subject the second room AC unit is a portable thing and quite noisy. The main bedroom has a window mounted unit which was not working correctly. There are fans too so it was cool by morning. I emailed Mark who said he would have to get it replaced so I would ask about that if you are thinking about booking. Overall a great experience. Kailua Kona is a great town and the Big Island has plenty to do and see.

Very Relaxing Retreat

We were in Hawaii to honor the passing of my brother. It was a sad time and the house turned out to be the perfect, nurturing space. We cooked most of our meals there, it was quiet and peaceful. We went to sleep to the sounds of the waves below and the cool breezes coming through open doors and windows. Just far enough out of town to avoid the noise but close enough to be in the action within a few minutes. Loved it. We will be back.

Only one week to go.

Previously my wife and I have stayed at the Royal Sea Cliffs, also very nice, but this condo is fabulous. The condition is first rate, the location is superb and the view is spectacular. We brought our son and daughter in law and they have to go back today, but my wife and I get one more week and I'm writing this review while having morning coffee on the lanai and watching the waves roll I below my feet. We've seen both dolphin and humpback whale pods from the lanai. Absolutely stunning. We can't wait to come back.

First time to Hawaii

We loved this condo!! It was very nice and had a great view of the ocean! We enjoyed both decks and loved having a coffee in the morning on the deck and watching sunsets in the evening. Paradise With An Amazing View !

We want to start out saying that we are "lodge owners" in the Ozark Mountains and we are very picky. After much research on VRBO it was narrowed down to this place! We were very happy with our choice. One of my concerns before booking was the owner living out of the area... if something broke how fast would things get repaired? Well... we had a breaker go out and Mark, the owner, got his contractor there immediately! Mark even called back the next day to make sure all was good. The condo is exactly as described. Clean, newly remodeled, great decor, well equipped kitchen, beach chairs, cooler, new gas grill, washer/dryer, lots of hangers and more. The remodeled walk in showers were awesome! Great WIFI signal and satellite TV. The best part was 2 lanais overlooking the most beautiful view of the ocean and sunsets. You could actually spit watermelon seeds and hit the water... it was that close! Listening to the ocean all day and night was so relaxing. Only took about 15 minutes to walk to town. It was a very safe walk. Perfect location if you don't want to drink and drive ! We took our binoculars and watched spinner dolphins play and whales blowing the water from their spouts and flipping their tales ..... right from our lanais EVERY DAY ! It was an amazing thing to see ! This was our first trip to Hawaii and we cannot wait to go back. We have been to Cancun, Cozumel, Belize, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Nassau and more. Kona Hawaii exceeds them all ! Do not hesitate to book this place ! The owner was great to work with and his place is exactly as he describes it to be. We would stay with him again!

Wonderful, Oceanfront House on Alli Drive

This rental is even better than the owner's description. Great location, two balconies for watching sunsets, BBQ'ing, relaxing;both we excellent views and right over the waves coming in. The house, divided into 2 units, is clean and well maintained. I've stayed in both units. The owner is very responsive to any inquiries we've ever made while staying here or from the mainland. Owner bends over backward to make sure everything is in tiptop shape. I would recommend this place to anyone. We've stayed here 3 different years and have always loved it. We can walk to town but often end up at home on the balcony, because the views from it are better than most places in town.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!

My boyfriend and I just returned from 10 days staying in this condo. Our trip to Kona was AMAZING and this condo was wonderful to come home to. It is beautifully updated, clean and looked exactly as represented in the pictures. The location was great - the ocean is literally your front yard. We watched spinner dolphins going bananas in the water on two different afternoons while sitting on the lanai! The walk to town (plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, activities) is short and easy, maybe about a mile. The condo was fully equipped with appliances, towels, bedding, laundry detergent, beach chairs, etc. I can't say enough good things about this place. I HIGHLY recommend it and am so grateful the owners were so generous to share it with us!

A home to come to

Mark, thank you so much for maintaining this property like you do. Everything is as it appears in the pictures and the place smells great (not like the musty / humid smell some places on the water have). Washer/dryer on the 1st floor bathroom, great windows with amazing views (and when the windows were closed, we could barely hear the sound / noise of waves crashing). The 2nd bedroom was great for us, as we were 2 couples traveling together and that 2nd BR gives on the side of the building, much quieter than if it were on the street. Super speedy wifi, great TV and most of all - comfortable seating on the 1st floor lanai. The 2nd floor lanai's furniture needs to be reupholstered, but we preferred hanging out on the 1st floor lanai anyway, enjoying our breakfast in the company of a school of about 30-40 yellow tangs below us. New BBQ, new dishwasher, food disposer fixed within a day or two - you are quick to make sure your guests are well taken care of such that they can focus more on what to do on the island! 10min walk to the village, 15min walk to the farmers' market. Apart from the view, the impeccable decoration and cleanliness of the place, the natural light in this place is simply breathtaking. The building is on the East-South-West side of the building, with beautiful light coming in the morning, in the afternoon... and magic in the evening at sunset. We're hoping to come back next year!!! Hey Mark, what a great place you have. We loved sitting outside on the lanai's! We could see dolphins everyday. The place is just like you said any closer you would be on the water. The place was clean and nicely appointed. The tile work and the bathrooms are fantastic. Great HD TVs to watch after the sun went down. A nice new grill to cook on out on the lanai. The house is close to town, walking distance in flip flops. We dove with Jacks Diving locker. We did the night dive with the Manta's rays wow. Great place were coming back for sure.

Magical

We can't imagine a more perfect place where the ocean lulls you sleep every night and awake to dolphins and whales nearly every morning. During our stay in February 2011, pods of 50 or more spinner dolphins made their way to Captain Cook's every morning and back north every afternoon; the bay just in front of the condo just happens to be their expressway. On four occasions, we saw humpback babies and their mamas breach and put on a show while having breakfast on the lanai - all of whom were visible without the aid of binoculars (although would be helpful). The two-level set-up is perfect as you get ocean front from both the living area and the master bedroom, with lanais on each. The condo itself is well appointed with every amenity you can imagine; furnishing were new and decor was modern, pleasing and relaxing. It appears that the condo was newly renovated. All three bathrooms were well renovated with a large walk-in rain shower in one, and a nice tub in the other; both bathrooms upstairs even have a reasonable view of the ocean (nearly all the rooms had an ocean view). Should you need it, the condo also has plenty of closet space and the washer, dryer, and dishwasher were handy. The french door refrigerator was perfect for our Costco runs. The location of the condo was within a 10-15 minute walk to downtown and there was easy access to the major roads for your excursions.

Great Condo

Just as pictured! Right on the water! We would stay there again. You could easily walk to downtown. The Art Gallery downstairs is fun and the owner was delightful. The only slight disappointment was that the the small bedroom upstairs was not air conditioned and was quite warm. The whole condo was like new and very clean. The upstairs shower was like something from house beautiful. Be sure to go to the Farmers Market downtown the first day and get some tropical flowers. They lasted our entire visit.
